In the small town of Missouri, where the creek turns into a river with every flood, lived a woman whose heart beat for the thundering hooves of racehorses. From her childhood, she was captivated by the legend of Secretariat, vowing one day to own a horse of such magnificence.

Over the years, she amassed a stable of remarkable stallions and elegant mares. Among them was Black Betty, a mare of unparalleled beauty, until fate dealt a cruel hand. In a tragic accident, Black Betty impaled herself on a fence post, suffering a grievous hernia. The local vet, grim-faced, advised euthanasia, declaring her future barren of foals. But Mrs. Wilson, with a heart as fierce as any superhero, refused.

With determination and a touch of divine luck, she nursed Black Betty back to health, defying the odds. Yet, life tested her resolve once more with a devastating flood that swept away fences, allowing her horses to roam free. After the chaos was quelled and fences mended, disaster struck again; an accident left Mrs. Wilson with severed fingers, halting all her work and forcing her to sell everything but Black Betty, whom she feared would be sent to slaughter.

Months passed, and an unexpected miracle unfolded. Black Betty, deemed incapable of bearing young, was pregnant. The stallion, cunning and swift, had breached the flood-ruined barriers, leading to this unexpected union. With every day of Black Betty’s pregnancy filled with tension, the vet cautiously monitored her, acknowledging there was nothing left to lose.

On April Fools’ Day, against all odds, Black Betty gave birth to a stunning blue roan colt named Armageddonit, or ‘Rastas’ for short. This colt was not just any horse; he was a symbol of resilience and defiance against fate itself.

Now, with Armageddonit growing strong, Mrs. Wilson’s dreams reignited. Financially strained but undeterred, she found a friend willing to train the young colt for the American Quarter Horse races. With hope in her heart, she set her sights on the tracks of 2025, where Armageddonit would prove his mettle.
